BN1A04M04 -- -- BN1A04M05
- Estimated Age: about 450 million years old.
- Comments: Scale Bar is 0.5 mm. Dayton Area, Ordovician Silurian Boundary -- teaching materials courtesy of Jeff Bauer. Sa element of Phragmodus undatus. Lateral costae, symmetrically disposed on each side of the cusp. -- BN1A04M04 and 5 were photographed dry under large microscope using Sony DSC-S70 using lateral illumination. Image BN1A04M06 shows effects of progressive whitening by exposure to vaporized ammonium chloride -- enhancing the appearance of the lateral costa. An even better result was obtained using blue water color dye with BN1A04M07 (although dye caused some effacement of denticles).
